Alzheimer’s Patch

There are many reasons why the “Alzheimer’s patch” is getting so much attention. It is known formally as the Exelon Patch, and is manufactured and distributed by the Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation.

This patch is the only one approved for the treatment of mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease.

Benefits of Using an Alzheimer’s Patch

The main benefit of the Alzheimer’s patch is that it only has to be applied once per day. Since the patch is applied directly to the skin there is no need to take any oral medication.

The Alzheimer’s patch can be applied at any time, day or night, as long as 24 hours elapses between applications. It is important to note that only one patch should be worn at a time.

The patch is composed of four layers, each with a distinct function. The first layer is the shell; the second layer holds the medicine; the third layer acts as an adhesive; and the fourth layer is the release liner.

Above all else, the Alzheimer’s patch offers a continuous release of medication that helps with cognition.

It is also important to note that this patch can be worn while swimming, bathing, or in the sun. These conditions should not affect the patch in any way, shape, or form. That being said, it is important to ensure that the patch does not loosen or come off during these activities.

Along with Alzheimer’s this patch has been proven effective in treating mild to moderate Parkinson’s disease and dementia.

In short, the Alzheimer’s patch is a new way of administering medication that helps the patient with cognitive functions. In many cases, this is better than having to worry about taking and/or swallowing pills once or several times per day.
